The Peacock is the left end of a much longer tapestry called “The Forest”, which originally hung at 1 Holland Park, London, the home of Alexander Ionides. The animals were designed by Edward Burne-Jones and the foreground details by J.H. Dearle. “The Lion” tapestry is another detail from “The Forest” and formed the centre section of the original. The original is at the Victoria & Albert Museum.
