House Number Tiles in Art Nouveau Design

These lovely moulded and hand-glazed Art Nouveau style number tiles come in either cobalt blue with white numerals or dark green with white numerals. They are rated for exterior use, and can be accented with any of the decorative or field tiles in the Moulded Art Nouveau Tile page as shown in the picture to the left.

The tiles can be installed by using a good quality silicone adhesive, and taping in place until they are dry - usually around 24 hours. Alternately, the tiles can be siliconed onto a board while flat on a table, and the board can then be screwed to the wall after the adhesive has dried. The tiles can also be set into, or mortared on to, stucco exteriors.

They are remarkably visible because of the contrast with the white numbers, and work very well on Bungalow or Arts & Crafts style homes.

Coordinating 1/4" Plain Tiles

These field tiles are specially commissioned by Historic Style so the colours match our wonderful Art Nouveau Moulded House Number Tiles. These field tiles are handmade like the feature tiles, and have a slightly irregular surface, allowing for an attractive mottling in the glaze.

Please note: All of our plain dark green tiles, like the originals, have a copper based glaze. These tiles should not be used around water or food acids because the tiles may mark.

Please note: As in the antique originals, small variations in colour; small areas of glaze bleeding; and a tendency for the glazes to "crackle" are indicative of the traditional hand-made quality of the tile, and are not considered defects. "Crackling" can be long sweeping "cracks"; fine, overall "crackling"; or anything in between. The amount of "crackle" depends on the materials in the different glazes. The degree of "crackling" is visible in the enlargement images of the tiles.
