In 1895, Samuel Bing opened a shop in Paris called
La Maison de l’Art Nouveau (literally – The
House of the New Art). Bing’s shop unofficially
gave the name to the style of design that had been developing
in Europe since the 1880’s. Characterized by sinuous
lines and natural forms, Art Nouveau touched every form
of design: from jewellery and household objects like
glassware and metalwork, to book and poster design and
even architecture. Art Nouveau designs were generally
popular from 1890 until 1910.
Historic Style has collected some beautiful examples of
the Style Art Nouveau for your enjoyment.
